Forward Home Builders is the construction arm of Accessible Housing Wisconsin, a Madison-based housing developer and long-term operator. We build and renovate accessible, durable homes, including ADUs and duplex additions. Because we operate our housing for the long term, we care deeply about consistent quality and accountability. Small-scale infill housing is an important part of Madison’s response to its housing needs. Our work creates a direct, physical impact in neighborhoods across the city.

Role Overview

You will own multiple projects from construction-ready handoff through occupancy. This is a senior individual-contributor role. You will direct project work with the Field Supervisor, Construction Operations, Development, and Finance and report to an involved COO. This role combines hands-on project delivery with direct input into standards and processes as the production system matures. Your work will help turn repeatable designs and a strong pipeline into a construction operation that becomes faster, more predictable, and more economical with each project.

Core Functions

  • Project planning. Develop and own project budgets, forecasts, schedules, trade
  • commitments, and procurement strategy.
  • Project delivery. Own execution from construction start through occupancy,
  • including changes, inspections, and closeout. Deliver within budget, on schedule,
  • and at the expected quality.
  • Production coordination. Integrate scheduling, purchasing, subcontractors,
  • suppliers, and field execution across active sites with the Field Supervisor.
  • Cost and risk control. Keep commitments, cost-to-complete forecasts, schedule
  • risks, and key decisions current and visible.
  • Conflict resolution. Resolve routine project and subcontractor issues with the
  • Field Supervisor. Escalate scope, capital, and priority conflicts to the COO.
  • Continuous improvement. Use actual cost and schedule results to improve
  • planning, standards, and execution across future projects.
  • Preconstruction input. Bring practical construction judgment into early design and
  • planning.

What We're Looking For

  • Ownership. Sees the whole project, anticipates problems, and closes loops.
  • Construction judgment. Balances cost, schedule, quality, and field realities.
  • Autonomous execution. Operates with high autonomy inside clear priorities set
  • by an engaged COO. Brings problems early, proposes solutions, and executes
  • decisions once made.
  • Builder mindset. Enjoys delivering projects while improving the systems behind
  • them.

Experience

  • 7+ years of residential, multifamily, or light-commercial construction project
  • management.
  • Experience personally delivering multiple concurrent projects from construction
  • start through occupancy.
  • Strong command of budgeting, job costing, scheduling, subcontractor
  • management, procurement, change control, and estimating.
  • Experience directly owning outcomes in a small or growing construction company
  • is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Buildertrend or comparable construction-management software.
  • Degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in the trades also qualifies.
