Online enrollment for 2026–27 MMSD school year opens Aug. 5
MADISON, Wis.—Online enrollment for the Madison Metropolitan School District's (MMSD) 2026–27 school year opens Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 8 a.m., giving both new and returning families the opportunity to prepare for the start of the academic year.
The second-largest public school district in the state, MMSD offers a wide range of learning opportunities designed to help every student discover and pursue their interests. From dual-language immersion (DLI) programs and tuition-free four-year-old kindergarten (4K) to comprehensive arts and athletics programs, advanced coursework, Career and Technical Education pathways and opportunities to earn college credit while still in high school, students have access to experiences that prepare them for success in school and beyond.
Families enrolling a student in MMSD for the first time or updating information for a returning student can complete the process through the district's online enrollment platform. Completing enrollment early helps ensure students are ready for the first day of school and allows the district to finalize transportation, staffing and classroom assignments.
The enrollment section of the MMSD website includes step-by-step instructions, required documentation, school assignment information, transportation resources and language support services. Returning families can verify or update their information through the online enrollment application without creating a new account, while families new to MMSD will be guided through setting up an account and submitting the required enrollment documents.
Enrollment staff are available to assist families by phone at 608-663-4957, in person and through language-specific support services.
"Every completed enrollment helps us prepare to welcome students into classrooms where they can learn, grow and thrive from the very first day," said Dr. Fatima Bendada, MMSD director of enrollment. "We encourage families to complete the process as early as possible so we can ensure every student has the supports they need in place before school begins."
The 2026–27 school year begins Tuesday, Sept. 1, for students in four-year-old kindergarten (4K), kindergarten, grade 6, grade 9 and early childhood programs. Students in all other grades begin school Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Families can find enrollment information, frequently asked questions and additional resources by visiting the district's enrollment webpage.
